When It Rains, It Pours!

Updated: Feb 2

It seems like every February we get hit with long rainy days and brisk winter nights. I don't know about you, but these are the kinds of days when I want to slow down and curl up on the couch with a good book, some hot coffee, and my sweet little dog by my side.

These rainy days make me think about not being in such a rush, to slow down. To be in the moment and pay attention to my surroundings. I know it's just rain... but have you stopped to look at the clouds when it's raining on one side of the street and not the other? The way they part for the sun, or gather for the rain. It's like looking at two different parts of the world, at the same time.

Have you seen a double rainbow after a long winter storm? Following the curve from where it all began until its end. Rainy days in Southern California can be few and far between, but when it rains, it is as if the clouds are pouring their heart out, hoping to make up for lost time.

I love rainy days, but I am glad when we get a small break. Tomorrow is market day, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and we've got vendors excited to share their handmade and homemade goods with you.

We've got warm homemade bread like cranberry walnut and jalapeno cheddar sourdough from Sassy Bakes by NoNo, freshly made cupcakes and hot cocoa bombs from Metaza, made-to-order mini-pancakes and funnel cakes by Francisca's Sweet Treats, hot off the grill quesadillas and sopes made by Alexa's Kitchen, unique one-of-a-kind bread and jams by Vangie's Creations and straight from the hive, honey by Queen Bee. As always, stop by Roasted by D for a nice cup of hot coffee, or cold brew. She just got a new espresso machine and plans to have a whole new menu soon!

Since you stopped by for lunch and/or dinner between 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., you may as well stay and do a little shopping. We've got bracelets, rings, and necklaces from BeasCrafts, keychains, magnets and child-friendly art by CraftMagic, positive and uplifting custom t-shirts and hoodies by Crimsons, custom resin-made coasters, snow globes and trays from GaviSouvenirs by Esmeralda, custom tumblers and mugs by Goodfield Creations, holiday-themed items from Han and San, crochet blankets, hats, scarves, and plushies by Heather's Creative Knit and Crochet, custom scented candles made by Infused With Aloha, custom designed wood coasters, and wine holders by Mapes Creations, body care like soaps and lotions by Ms. Pearl's, handsewn purses by Nancy's Royal Swag, crochet plushies by Narwhal Creations, affordable costume jewelry from Angela's Classy Jewels and handsewn bowl cozies, ponchos, table runners and more by Petra's Artful Stiches.

It's going to be a great day tomorrow. The perfect day to get out, run all your errands for the week before the rain comes, and get some of your Valentine's Day shopping out of the way!

We are on the corner of Harvard and Florida, every Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Our vendors will greet you with a warm friendly smile, and you are guaranteed to make a new friend. Stop by the coffee cart and say "Hi." Mention this blog and get half off your coffee!
